99.04 No stay of proceedings

If your case gets sent to mediation, everything else in the case keeps moving. You still have to follow deadlines for discovery and other steps in the lawsuit. Going to mediation does not pause the case or give anyone extra time.

The only way to pause the case during mediation is if the judge specifically orders a pause, or if everyone involved agrees in writing to stop things for a while. Without one of those, you need to keep working on your case just like normal, even while you're trying to settle things through mediation.

This means you can't use mediation as an excuse to miss deadlines or slow things down. Keep preparing your case and meeting your obligations, and treat mediation as something happening alongside your case, not instead of it.
