7.18 Manner of taking depositions

When someone needs to give a deposition in a criminal case, it works the same way depositions work in civil cases. This means the same rules for scheduling, questioning, and recording testimony that apply in civil lawsuits also apply here.

If a defendant asks, the court can also allow the deposition to be done through written questions instead of a face to face session. Again, this follows the same process used in civil cases. This gives the defense a choice in how the deposition gets handled, depending on what makes more sense for their situation.
