9.02 Time of hearing or trial

When someone is charged with a crime, the case moves forward as soon as they show up in court or are brought before a judge. The case only gets delayed if there's a good reason for it, not just because of scheduling convenience or delay for its own sake.

If a person is being held in jail while waiting for their case to be resolved, the court has to move quickly to get them to trial. The goal is to prevent people from sitting in custody for a long time without their case being heard. This rule helps protect people from being held for months or years without a chance to have their case decided in court.
