20 Notice of temporary removal hearing

When a child is temporarily removed from their home, the court clerk has to notify certain people about the upcoming hearing. This includes the child's parents or whoever normally takes care of the child, the county attorney, and the state agency that handles child protective services.

The clerk also has to notify anyone appointed to represent the child's interests. This could be a guardian ad litem or, depending on the situation, a lawyer assigned to speak for the child. Any lawyers already involved in the case will get notice too.

If the child has been placed with foster parents, they should get notified as well, but only if the state agency (the Cabinet) has given the clerk their contact information. This means foster parents have a right to know about the hearing and can attend, as long as the proper information has been shared with the court.
