34 Post-termination of parental rights review

When a judge signs an order ending someone's parental rights, that order also has to be added to the child's original dependency, neglect, or abuse case file. The court makes sure both cases stay connected and reference each other.

After the termination order is entered, the court clerk must schedule a review hearing within 90 days. This hearing checks on the child's progress and makes sure a permanent plan, like adoption or another stable living situation, is moving forward.

The court will keep scheduling these review hearings at least once a year. This continues until the child reaches permanency, meaning they have a stable, permanent home. The goal is to make sure no child gets lost in the system after parental rights are terminated, and that the court keeps checking in until the child's situation is fully settled.
