8.010 The Commission; functions and membership

Kentucky has a group called the Mandatory Continuing Judicial Education Commission. This group is made up of 14 members. Its main job is to oversee the ongoing education that Kentucky judges are required to complete throughout their careers.

In simple terms, judges don't just get trained once and then stop learning. They have to keep taking educational courses to stay current on the law and their duties. This Commission is in charge of setting the rules for that training and making sure judges follow them.

The note at the end just explains some history about how Kentucky's court rules have been renamed and reorganized over the years. It doesn't affect what the rule means today. It simply tracks how the rule numbering system changed since the 1970s.
