Rule 1-1 Promulgation and Effective Date of Rules; Amendments

Louisiana's five Courts of Appeal share one set of rules, and this section explains how those rules get published and updated. The courts post the rules on their websites, and they can also publish them in other ways that make sense. The current version of the rules took effect on January 1, 2023.

When the courts need to change the rules later, they follow the same process. They post the changes the same way they posted the original rules. Each change lists its own start date, so people know exactly when the new version applies to their case.
