Art. 1043 Adoption; voluntary registration by child and parents whose parental rights have been terminated

If your parental rights were legally ended and your child was later adopted, you can still sign up for the voluntary adoption registry. Your child who was adopted can do the same thing. This registry is a way for birth parents and adopted children to say they are open to being contacted or found later in life.

Signing up does not automatically connect you with each other. It just means you have both agreed to make yourselves available through this system, following the rules laid out in Chapter 15 of Title XII. If both sides register, it can help make a future connection possible.
