Art. 106 Number, gender

This rule explains how to read words in the Children's Code when it comes to number and gender. If a law uses a word in the singular form, like "child," it also means more than one child unless the situation clearly calls for just one. The same works the other way around: if a word is written as plural, it can also mean just one, depending on what makes sense.

The same idea applies to gender. If a law uses words like "he" or "she," it applies to both men and women, boys and girls, unless the context makes it clear that only one gender is meant.

Basically, this rule keeps small wording details from causing confusion or unfair results. It makes sure the law applies fairly and sensibly, whether one person or many people are involved, and no matter their gender.
