Plain-English Summary (for reference only — not a substitute for the rule text above)
This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
If a parent needs to be served with papers in this type of case and they live in Louisiana, the papers must be delivered to them directly or left with someone at their home (this is called domiciliary service). This must happen at least 30 days before the court hearing on the petition. This gives the parent enough time to know what's happening and prepare before the case moves forward.
The rule also allows the court to protect private information. If the petition or any attached documents include a social security number, that number can be blacked out or removed from the copies given to the parent. This helps keep sensitive personal information safe while still making sure the parent gets proper notice of the hearing.
