Art. 1301.1 Short title

This part of the law is called the "Uniform Interstate Family Support Act." You'll see it referred to by this name in other parts of the law, so it helps to know the title when you come across it.

The purpose of this law is to handle child support and family support cases that cross state lines. For example, if a parent lives in one state and the child lives in another, this law sets up the rules for how support orders get created, changed, and enforced across those state borders.
