Art. 1302.10 Application of Chapter to nonresident subject to personal jurisdiction

If a Louisiana court has personal jurisdiction over someone who lives out of state, and the case involves child support or recognizing a support order from another state, the Louisiana court can still gather evidence from outside the state, talk directly with courts in other states, and get help with discovery (gathering information or documents) through courts in other states. These tools help the Louisiana court handle the case even though the other person doesn't live here.

Beyond those specific tools, the court doesn't need to follow the special interstate procedures found in other parts of this law. Instead, the Louisiana court just applies its own regular Louisiana laws and court procedures to decide the case, the same way it would for any other case filed in the state.
