Art. 1306.10 Effect of registration for modification

When a child support order from another state gets registered in Louisiana so it can be changed, Louisiana courts can enforce that order just like it was their own. This means the court can make sure payments happen and take action if someone isn't following the order.

But there's a limit on making changes to the order. A Louisiana court can only modify the registered order if certain requirements are met first. These requirements are spelled out in other rules (Article 1306.11 or 1306.13). Basically, registering the order lets Louisiana enforce it right away, but changing the actual terms of support requires meeting extra conditions first.
