Art. 1307.2 Applicability

Here's what this rule means in plain terms.

This rule tells you when a special set of legal procedures kicks in. Those procedures only apply to child or spousal support cases that fall under an international agreement called the Convention. This Convention deals with support cases that cross international borders, like when one parent lives in a different country than the other.

If your support case is not connected to this international Convention, this rule does not affect you at all. The regular support rules will apply instead.

If your case does fall under the Convention, and there is ever a conflict between this special section and the general rules found in Sections 1 through 6, the rules in this section win out. In other words, when the Convention is involved, these specific rules take priority over the standard procedures.
