Art. 1307.9 Partial enforcement

If a Louisiana court can't enforce an entire international child support order under the Convention, it still has to enforce whatever parts of the order it can. The court can't just throw out the whole order because one piece of it has a problem. It has to look at the order piece by piece and enforce the parts that are valid.

This matters for people trying to collect child support from another country. Even if some part of the original order doesn't meet the requirements for recognition in Louisiana, you're not out of luck entirely. You or your attorney can specifically ask the court to recognize and enforce just the parts of the order that do qualify, rather than asking for all-or-nothing treatment.
