Art. 1425 Request for MHAS representation

When someone is admitted to a treatment facility on an emergency certificate, they have the right to ask for help. The patient can request that the facility's director contact the executive director of MHAS (Mental Health Advocacy Service) to let them know about the admission.

The patient can also ask for legal representation at this time. This means that even in an emergency mental health admission, the person still has the right to get legal help and have someone advocate for their interests.

This rule protects patients by making sure they are not left without support just because they were admitted on an emergency basis. It gives them a clear way to reach out for legal assistance right from the start of their stay at the facility.
