Art. 1443 Hearing; priority

Here's what this rule means: if a hearing date has been set, that hearing gets to go first on the court's schedule that day. The judge has to handle it before moving on to other kinds of cases.

The only exception is other cases of the same type that are already waiting to be heard. Those can be treated with equal priority, so the court can decide the order among them. But cases from unrelated matters have to wait until these priority hearings are done.

For someone involved in a case like this, it means you can expect your hearing to actually happen on the scheduled day. The court cannot push it aside to deal with other, unrelated business first.
