Art. 1512 Continuing jurisdiction

Once a juvenile court makes a decision in a case, that same court keeps control over the case going forward. If something needs to change later, like an update to an order the court already made, only that same court can make the change.

This means families can't go to a different court to try to get a different outcome. If circumstances change and an order needs to be updated, the case goes back to the original juvenile court that handled it before. That court is the only one with the power to review and modify its own past decisions in the matter.
