Art. 1546 Venue

Here's a plain-English summary of this rule:

This rule tells you where you can file this type of court case in Louisiana. You have two choices for the location, or "venue." You can file the case in the parish where the minor (the young person involved) lives. Or, you can file it in the parish where the wedding is supposed to happen.

This gives families some flexibility. If the minor lives in one parish but the wedding will take place in another, either location works for filing the case. You don't have to guess or worry about picking the wrong spot, as long as you choose one of these two parishes.
