Art. 1549 Authorization; copies; filing

When a court gives permission for a minor to get married, that approval has to be written down. The written approval cannot explain why the judge decided to allow it, it just states that permission was granted.

Once the court gives this written approval, a copy gets attached to the marriage certificate that the couple receives. The original approval document must also be handed over to the official who issues the marriage license, so that office has proof the court signed off on it.

Finally, a copy of this approval also needs to be filed along with the marriage certificate, just like the law requires for any marriage record. This keeps an official paper trail showing the court's permission was part of the process.
