Art. 418 Juvenile court; juvenile judge

If you see the words "juvenile court" or "juvenile judge" in another law, and that law applies to cases covered by this Code, those words mean the same thing as "court" or "judge" as explained in Article 116.

In simple terms, different laws might use different names for the court or judge handling a child's case. This rule makes sure everyone understands those names refer to the same court and judge, so there's no confusion about which court has authority over the case.

This matters because juvenile cases sometimes involve multiple laws that were written at different times or by different lawmakers. Some of those laws might use older or different terms. This rule keeps things consistent, so families, attorneys, and court staff all know that "juvenile court" and "court," or "juvenile judge" and "judge," mean exactly the same thing under this Code.
