Art. 648 Advice of rights at appearance to answer petition

When a parent and child come to court to answer a petition, the judge has to tell them about their rights and responsibilities. This happens at a hearing called the "appearance to answer." The judge explains these rights so both the parent and the child understand what they're entitled to and what's expected of them during the case.

The judge doesn't have to repeat this information if the parent and child already heard it at an earlier hearing. So if they were already advised of their rights before, the judge can skip this step at the appearance to answer.

This rule makes sure parents and children know their legal rights before moving forward in the case, but it also avoids wasting time repeating information people have already received.
