Art. 658 Dismissal of petition

If someone files a petition in a children's court case, they have the right to ask the court to drop it. When the person who started the case (the petitioner) files a motion asking for the case to be dismissed, the court has to grant that request.

This means the decision to walk away from the case belongs to the petitioner. The court does not weigh other factors or decide whether dismissal is a good idea. Once the petitioner asks to dismiss the case, the judge must end it.
