Art. 686 Duration of disposition

When a court makes a decision about what happens to a child in a case, that decision does not last forever. It stops applying once the child turns 18 years old.

The decision can also end sooner than that. This can happen if the original order says it ends at an earlier date, if a judge changes it later, or if a judge cancels it before the child turns 18.

So the age of 18 is the outside limit. The actual decision might end earlier depending on what the court ordered or if things change along the way.
