Art. 688 Case review reports; filing

When a child is in the custody of an agency, that agency has to write up a report before certain court hearings. This report needs to be turned in to the court, or to the group in charge of reviewing the case, at least ten days before the hearing happens. This gives everyone time to read it and prepare before the review takes place.

If a CASA volunteer (a court-appointed special advocate) is working on the case, the agency also has to send them a copy of the report. This copy needs to go out either before the report is filed with the court or at the very same time. The goal is to make sure everyone involved in looking out for the child's best interests has the same information going into the hearing.
