Art. 725.6 Victim confidentiality

This rule protects the privacy of children who are victims of sexual exploitation. It says that police, investigators, prosecutors, and service providers must keep all reports and records about the case private. This includes keeping secret the fact that these records even exist.

The child's identity, along with any photos or images of the child and their family, must stay confidential. No one can release this information to the public without a good reason.

There are only three situations where this private information can be shared. It can be shared if it's truly needed for investigating or prosecuting the case, if a judge orders it to be released, or if sharing it is necessary to get the child the help and services they need. Outside of these three reasons, the child's identity and information must remain protected.
