Art. 754 Failure to appear as summoned

If someone gets properly served with a summons and doesn't show up to court, the judge can have that person picked up and brought to court right away. This means law enforcement can take the person into custody to make sure they appear before the judge.

This rule exists to make sure court proceedings can move forward. Once someone has been legally notified about a court date through proper service, they can't just ignore it. If they skip the court date without a valid excuse, the court has the power to enforce their appearance by having them brought in directly, rather than just rescheduling or waiting for them to show up on their own.
