Art. 831 Review of bail orders

If a child is denied bail, or if the bail amount seems too high, the child has the right to ask a higher court to look at the decision. This means the case doesn't just stop at the first ruling. The child (usually through a parent, guardian, or attorney) can ask the court of appeal to step in and review what happened.

This is called invoking the court's "supervisory jurisdiction." In simple terms, it means asking a higher court to check whether the lower court made a fair and correct decision about bail. This gives the child a way to challenge a bail decision they believe is unfair, either because they were refused bail completely or because the amount set was too high to reasonably pay.

This rule exists to protect a child's rights during the early stages of a case. Bail decisions can have a big impact on a child's life, so having a way to get a second opinion from a higher court adds an important layer of fairness to the process.
