Art. 908.1 AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases; victim's testing and services

When a young person is found guilty (adjudicated delinquent) of a sexual offense in juvenile court, the victim has certain rights when it comes to testing for HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. This rule says that the same rules that apply in adult criminal court for these situations also apply here.

In practice, this means the victim can ask the court to order testing for the juvenile offender to check for HIV and other STDs. The victim also has the right to get the test results and to receive counseling and medical services related to this testing. These protections exist so that victims of sexual offenses, even when the offender is a minor, still get access to important health information and support after the crime.
