Art. 1035 Answer

If you get pulled into a case through an incidental action, like a third-party demand or a cross-claim, you have to file your answer by the same deadline that applies to regular answers. This deadline comes from Article 1001, which generally gives you 15 days to respond after you've been served or after your exceptions have been decided.

The same basic rules that apply to a normal answer also apply here. This means your answer needs to follow the format and content requirements laid out in Articles 1003 through 1006. These articles cover things like how to state your defenses, how to respond to each claim made against you, and what happens if you don't specifically deny something in the original claim.

In short, being brought into a lawsuit as part of an incidental action doesn't give you different rules to follow. You get the same amount of time to respond and you have to meet the same standards for what goes into your answer as anyone else who is filing one in a Louisiana civil case.
