Art. 159 Recusal of ad hoc judge

When a judge gets recused from a case, another judge (called an ad hoc judge) is brought in to handle the recusal motion or to take over the case. This rule says that this substitute judge can also be recused if there's a valid reason.

In other words, bringing in a new judge doesn't make that judge immune from being challenged. If someone has a legitimate concern about the ad hoc judge's ability to be fair, they can raise it using the same rules and process that apply to any other judge. The ad hoc judge doesn't get special treatment just because they were appointed to fill in.
