Art. 1605 Trial of motion; order

If one side asks the court to postpone a trial or hearing, and the other side objects, the court has to deal with this request quickly. The judge cannot just decide on the postponement without input from both sides.

This means the party asking for the delay and the party against it both get a chance to speak and give their reasons. The court will not drag this out. It handles the request in a fast, straightforward hearing so the case can keep moving forward. Both sides get heard, but the process stays quick so it doesn't slow down the rest of the case.
