Art. 1637 Completion of trial; pronouncement of judgment

Once a trial wraps up, the judge has two options. The judge can announce a decision right away, or wait and think it over before deciding.

If the judge takes the case under advisement, that just means more time is needed to review the evidence and arguments before making a ruling. There's no requirement for the judge to decide on the spot. Either way, the case will eventually result in a judgment, whether that happens immediately after trial or at a later date once the judge has had time to consider everything presented.
