Art. 2371 Effect of adjudication

When property is sold through a court judgment, the buyer gets everything the original owner had. It works just like a regular sale. The buyer steps into the same position the debtor was in, gaining all the rights and legal claims tied to that property.

This means the buyer isn't getting a lesser or limited form of ownership. They receive the same ownership rights the debtor had before the court got involved. If the debtor could have sold the property directly and passed along full rights to a buyer, the court-ordered sale does the same thing. The person who buys the property at this type of sale can expect to hold it just as securely as if they'd bought it directly from the original owner in a private deal.
