Art. 2813 Multiple successions in the same proceeding

When more than one family member has passed away, their estates can sometimes be handled together in a single court case instead of filing separate cases for each person. This can save time and reduce paperwork for the families involved. It doesn't matter if the deaths happened at different times.

The only requirement is that the court must have proper authority, called jurisdiction, over each person's estate. This means the court must have the legal right to handle each individual succession under the rules set out in Article 2811. If that requirement is met, the estates can move forward together in one combined proceeding.
