Art. 4032 Minor not domiciled in the state

If a minor doesn't live in Louisiana but owns property here, someone can still ask a Louisiana court to appoint a guardian (called a "tutor") to manage that property. This rule explains which parish court can handle that request.

If the minor owns land or a building in Louisiana, the petition can be filed in the parish where that property is located. If the minor doesn't own any land or buildings in the state, but does own other property, like money, vehicles, or personal belongings, then the petition can be filed in the parish where that property is located.

This rule makes sure there's a proper court to handle these cases even when the minor lives out of state, as long as they have some property connection to Louisiana.
