Art. 612 Representation

When a group of people share the same legal claim, they don't all need to show up in court individually. Instead, one or a few people from that group can represent everyone else in a single lawsuit. This is called a class action.

For this to work, the person or people leading the lawsuit must be able to fairly speak for the whole group. The court wants to make sure these lead plaintiffs will look out for everyone's interests, not just their own. If a judge doesn't think someone can fairly represent the whole class, that person won't be allowed to lead the case.

This setup helps when many people have been harmed in the same way by the same company or person. Rather than filing hundreds or thousands of separate lawsuits, everyone with a similar claim can join together under one case, with a few representatives handling things on behalf of the group.
