Art. 643 Solidary obligees and obligors; joinder

If several people or businesses owe the same debt together, or if several people share the right to collect the same debt together, you don't have to include everyone in the lawsuit. This is called a "solidary" obligation, which just means multiple people are equally responsible for the same debt, or equally entitled to collect it.

This rule says you can sue just one of the people who owe the debt, without having to sue all of them at the same time. The same goes for collecting money: if you're one of several people owed the same debt, you can sue to collect your share without making the other people who are owed money join your lawsuit.

This makes things easier for people trying to enforce their rights in court. You don't have to track down and include every single person connected to the debt just to file your case. You can move forward with the people you choose to sue or the people who choose to sue alongside you.
