Art. 205 Effective period

Once a judge issues a warrant for someone's arrest, that warrant doesn't expire on its own. It stays active until one of two things happens: police actually arrest the person named in the warrant, or a judge cancels (recalls) it.

This means there's no time limit on how long law enforcement can act on a warrant. Someone could have a warrant out for their arrest for months or even years, and it would still be valid if police found them. The only way to stop a warrant from being enforced is for the court to formally withdraw it.

For someone who knows a warrant has been issued for them, this rule matters a lot. Ignoring it or hoping it goes away won't work, since the warrant simply doesn't lose its power over time. The person would need to deal with the court directly, through a lawyer or by resolving the underlying case, to get the warrant recalled.
