Art. 219 Officer may summon assistance

When a police officer is making a lawful arrest, the officer can ask other people nearby for help if needed. The officer decides how many people to call on to assist.

Anyone who is asked to help in this situation is treated as a peace officer for that specific task. This means they have the same legal authority as the officer during the arrest, and they're protected under the law just as an officer would be while helping carry out the arrest.
