Art. 355 Persons authorized to make service; proof of service

If someone needs to deliver a writ of habeas corpus (a legal order used to bring a person before a court, often to challenge unlawful detention), the person delivering it must be at least 21 years old and able to testify in court if needed.

The delivery doesn't have to be done by a sheriff. If someone else hands over the writ, that person can sign a sworn statement (an affidavit) saying they delivered it. This sworn statement counts as basic proof that the delivery happened, unless someone challenges it with other evidence.
