Plain-English Summary (for reference only — not a substitute for the rule text above)
This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
Some people are allowed to skip jury duty. The Louisiana Supreme Court decides who qualifies for these exemptions and sets the specific rules for it.
This means the list of who can be excused from serving on a jury isn't found in this particular law. Instead, you need to look at the rules created by the Louisiana Supreme Court to find out if you qualify for an exemption. These rules were created under the authority given to the Supreme Court by the Louisiana Constitution.
If you receive a jury summons and think you might qualify for an exemption, you would need to check the Supreme Court's specific rules to see what reasons count and how to request being excused.
