Art. 474 Property described as money

When a criminal charge involves money, the paperwork doesn't need to spell out every detail about it. Prosecutors can simply call it "money" in the indictment, without listing whether it was cash, checks, banknotes, treasury notes, or some other form of currency.

This makes things easier for prosecutors because they don't have to know or prove the exact form the money took. For example, if someone is charged with stealing money, the charge doesn't have to say whether the money was in twenty dollar bills, hundred dollar bills, or some other specific type of currency. Just calling it "money" is good enough to meet the legal requirements for the charge.

This rule exists so that minor details about the exact form of money don't become a technical problem that could get a case thrown out. As long as the charge says money was involved, that description is legally sufficient.
