Art. 498 Copy of indictment or information

If you're charged with a crime, you have the right to ask the court clerk for an official copy of the document that lists the charges against you (called an indictment or information). The clerk is supposed to give you this copy when you ask for it.

But if the clerk makes a mistake or gives you a copy with errors, this alone won't get your case thrown out. The mistake only matters if it actually hurt your ability to defend yourself. So small errors or typos in the copy usually won't change the outcome of your case, unless you can show the mistake caused you real harm in preparing your defense.
