Art. 711 Trial of motion

When someone asks the court for more time before a trial (called a continuance), and the other side does not agree to it, the judge has to hold a quick hearing on it. Both sides get a chance to show up and explain their position before the judge decides.

This means the court cannot just grant a delay in secret or based on one side's word alone, unless everyone already agrees to it. If both sides consent to the continuance, the court can simply approve it without a hearing. But if there's any disagreement, the judge needs to hear from both the person asking for the delay and the other party before making a decision.

In short, this rule makes sure that requests to delay a trial get a fair and open review when they're contested, so one side can't get extra time without the other side having a say.
