Art. 892.2 Notice of controlled dangerous substance conviction; licensing authority

If someone is convicted of a felony drug crime under Louisiana's Controlled Dangerous Substances Law, the judge has to check whether that person holds a professional or trade license in the state. This could include licenses for jobs like nursing, contracting, cosmetology, or other regulated professions.

If the judge finds out the person does have a license, the court must notify the licensing board or agency that oversees that profession. This lets the licensing authority know about the conviction so they can decide if any action needs to be taken against the person's license.

This rule doesn't punish the person further in their criminal case. Instead, it makes sure professional licensing boards get the information they need to do their own review, which could affect someone's ability to keep working in their licensed field.
