Art. 898 Satisfaction of suspended sentence and probation

When someone finishes their probation or suspended sentence, they have officially completed that punishment. This also applies if a judge lets them off early under Article 897. Once this happens, the person is done with that part of their sentence and won't have to worry about it anymore.

There's one important exception though. If a sentence was only partly suspended, meaning the person had to serve some time or complete some other requirement before probation started, they need to finish that unsuspended part first. Only after they've completed that initial portion does finishing probation count as satisfying the full sentence.
