If you want to file for post conviction relief, you need to file it in the parish where you were originally convicted. This is true no matter where you are currently being held or where you now live.

This rule keeps things simple. The court that handled your original case is the one that will handle your request to review that conviction. You can't file in a different parish just because it's more convenient for you, and you can't shop around for a different court. The location of your conviction decides where your paperwork goes.
