Rule 22.0 Application of Rules

These rules add extra guidance for family law cases on top of the general court rules already in place. If you have a family law case, like divorce, child custody, or child support, these rules work alongside the standard rules that apply to all district court cases in Louisiana.

The rules apply whether your case is in a regular district court or in a court that only handles specific types of cases. Louisiana has some courts set up just to handle certain kinds of legal matters, and family law cases can show up in either type of court. No matter which court handles your case, these family law rules will apply if your case involves family law issues.
