Rule 24.14 Uncontested Paternity Proceedings – Proof by Affidavit

If a paternity case isn't being contested by either side, some Louisiana courts allow proof of paternity through a written affidavit instead of a court hearing. This is based on a state law, La. R.S. 9:572, that allows this simpler process.

Not every court in Louisiana handles things this way. Only certain courts have set up their own local rules to allow affidavits for uncontested paternity cases. This matters because it can save time and effort. If your court is on that list and nobody is disputing who the father is, you may be able to handle the paperwork without appearing before a judge.
